Catfish noodling in Louisiana?

I’ve wanted to try noodling for catfish since I found out about it, but it’s not legal in my home state of Texas and I’d like to do it with a decreased chance of serious injury or death, so possibly with a guide are at least some very solid advice on where to go and what to do. Anyone have anything to share on noodling for catfish in Louisiana?
Lot’s of guides for noodling in Oklahoma just north of the Red River. You should be able to easily find someone to help you out there. If all else fails look up the Okie Noodling tournament in Pauls Valley OK and head up for that and you should be able to hook up with someone to teach you.

yeah, Oklahoma is something of a self proclaimed noodling capital. mostly because oklahoma has lots of suitable water for it.
i have never noodled because i am not a fan of serious injury and death either. i do have friends who have done it. this is how the conversation usually goes.
Me: “man, you dont worry about a muskrat biting you?”
Friend: “nah, muskrats will try to get away. they think you are a predator. you always feel
their back legs as they try to dig in the other direction.”
Me: “what about beavers dude, they could be big trouble.”
Friend: “nah, you can always tell if beavers are around. they leave sign everywhere. so if see a bunch of chewed off trees, you just move down the river a little.”
Me: “what about snapping turtles”
friend: ” well, then your just F**ked.”
this is why i havent tried noodling yet. probably never will.
Well, I too live in Texas in the witchita falls area, and I catfish noodle in my uncles pond, but if you go to Louisiana or Mississippi, ask for the nearest river, and ask someone who fishes there often and try to fish the area with your hand, but be sure to wear thick gloves….not golf gloves….THICK GLOVES!!!!!!!!!!!
There’s a lot of alligators in Louisiana. Maybe you will get lucky and only lose a arm.
