Hey andee98 what size hook should I use for a 3″-4 1/2″ crawdad should I use a regular j hook like a mustad size 1 live bait hook or should I Texas rig it thanks alot and ya I am excited 3 nights and 4 days of non stop fishing how would that make you feel

You ask alot I bet your excited to go on your trip. You take a decent sized hook for the size of your crawfish cause they range in size and hook them through the tail cause that’s were fish swallow them from so they don’t get pinched good luck
Really depends on the size of the Crawdads your using. Typically, a size 2/0 weedless hook would be about perfect. Something like this- http://www.basspro.com/Mustad-Weedless-Worm-Hook–Model-W3369A/product/30057/45296?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT
The wire-guard not only keeps your bait weedless, it helps keep the Mudbug on the hook.
You would want to rig it through the end of the tail with the hook point facing “up”.
I would use a 3/0 light wire circle hook. Hook up from the underside of the tail one joint from the end. You want the hook point up. You might want to use a bobber or slip bobber. The goal being to keep it from just crawling under a rock. I would probably try a few different heights off the bottom. Or if a drift from shallow to deeper is possible that will work. Have to see what the fish prefer.
The roboworms I would say 6” is fine this time of year. The 4 1/2″ could be lots of fun with a light rod an targeting smaller fish especially smallmouth.
