My buddy left me a 10ft pole but no reel so I just have a few questions on getting started. What pound line should I buy? What kind of reel should I buy? How much should I spend if used? How kind of bait, hook, jigs should I use? And any other tips.

Where i fish is in the gulf of mexico over in treasure island, florida. The water at the beach is pretty mush calm not many waves. Do i really need a huge pole? Im not casting over any waves? Any tips for surf fishing would be great…especually shark
