Where are the best places to vacation along the Gulf Coast?

We live in Houston and will be going on Vacation on a Thursday – Monday in July. We want go somewhere along the gulf coast and see a pretty beach (not in Texas). Since this is a short trip we don’t want to drive like all the way to the Keys. Maybe somewhere in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama, and the far west of Florida. While we are there we also want to send the guys on an offshore fishing trip for one day. Can you tell us of some good places to go or see? We want to rent a beach house or Condo!
florida- northish to southish. panama city, cedar key, clearwater, sanibel island.
Destin, FL is your best bet for an awesome and clean beach and the best place for fishing!
New Orleans is pretty cool, I like the shopping, and it’s just a nice place to stay.
I go to New Orleans alot just for weekend trips with my mom and sister. There is places by the levee where they have sand, and the gulf and stuff, which is nice to lay out. But, there are not actual beaches, and I doubt you’re going to find that many beach houses or condos there, just hotels The New Orleans Zoo is the coolest zoo I have ever been to, and I don’t even like zoo’s, but this one is super cool, and so it the aquariam, they have a white alligator there, or they did a few years ago, which is really cool. There are alot of places to go for an offshore fishing trip, but most likely in places surrounding New Orleans. There is alot of historical things there too, which are nice to visit. The Children’s Museum is like the coolest place ever, I’m a teenager, and I loved it, it’s not really like baby stuff. Don’t go eat at Emeril’s their food is horrible. Le Cirque is a reall nice hotel too, for not an expensive price, my family always stays there. Overall, there is alot of stuff to do, it’s nice. Bourbon is also fun, if you’re into that sort of thing.
